Students and teachers cheer!
Parents jeer!
School’s Out For Summer: 2018 is fast approaching regardless of the amount of “make-up days”. Again, I’m not a father or have kids in school, but I’m not oblivious either. I have teacher friends, friends that do have children, and lastly, I’m dating a mother of 3. The angst of school being done for two months is palatable. I’m not kidding. I don’t know if it’s just this school year, or this happens year after year.
I know when the kids are done simply by my commuting time to work is shorter, and the weather is more pleasant. At least in the Pacific Northwest!
School’s Out For Summer: 2018
Two months, to me, doesn’t seem like long at all. But if you ask some of my parent friends, they say it’s a dreadfully long couple of months. With a lack of a routine, and obligations, I assume their children are ‘bored’. I think back when I was a kid and I didn’t have an issue entertaining myself or my sister. Seriously, even living in a cul-de-sac with most older children around, it was easy to jet outside for hours at a time.
Yes, I recognize we were latchkey kids but we were self-sufficient before my parents returned to the workforce.
The longer hours of sunshine, meant staying outside to play / socialize until it was no longer safe. My current house is in a cul-de-sac with kids in the neighborhood. So with summer on our heels, I’m positive they’ll be playing outside. My girlfriend’s children are older so they definitely know how to leverage the gift of time, or at least not having to do school work.
School’s Out For Summer: 2018 should be filled with sunny days and fun times. At least that’s what I’m hoping for my parent friends that dread this time of year.
And for the teachers and students I know … enjoy the time off!! Should be a great summer.
Be good like you should, and if you can’t be good, be good at what you do.
