Let’s be honest. Seattle and the surrounding area has another housing crisis currently. Even houses in my area are being sold over asking price, and are selling within days of being posted. It’s nuts! I read a couple of articles about the ghost town of Cerro Gordo (loosely translated from Spanish as Fat Hill)
Why Buy A House When You Can Buy The Town?
If I had some financially savvy friends, I would seriously consider gathering an investment group together to purchase the ghost town of Cerro Gordo. I have several enterprises to launch while still protecting the historical nature of the town. There are ghost hunters, history lovers, hikers, explorers, and geocachers that would certainly look at the purchase as a win-win.
My mind is on fire with the possibilities alone! I guess I’m a dreamer. Maybe I could retire here as a curator, tour director, and overall custodian.

Can you imagine it? You owning an entire town? Granted, it’s literally in the middle of nowhere (Death Valley area), but HEY! At least you’d be owning a house plus acreage. Why Buy A House When You Can Buy The Town? What you would do first? I would reach out to American West lovers, hiking clubs, and more. AirBnB to attract out of state interest in the area. I would continue the walking tours. Perhaps set up a ghost hunting trip or two. I would touch base with the Geocaching Community for setting up a GeoTour or an event. Like I said, my head has steam coming from it.
