Is Seattle Wedding Spending going up?

You are here: Home / Financial / Is Seattle Wedding Spending going up?

January 18, 2011 By //  by Mari

What do you think about this?  TheWeddingReport.com Study Result Shows a “V” Shape Return in Wedding Spending.  Those of you planning weddings this year and beyond – do you feel more confident in your budget?

We’ve notice some changes since 2008.  In 2009 and 2010 it seemed that couples planning their weddings were waiting until the last minute to decide if they could afford a Wedding DJ or musician.  Many I talked with were more concerned about the prices instead of the quality and value of the service they were going to purchase.

The article noted that the Men’s Formal Wear industry was being hit pretty hard.  I do recall that many of the grooms in 2010 did not wear traditional tuxedos.

I’m sure the study covered the entire nation but specifically for Seattle Weddings and Couples – is your confidence in the economy up and do you think your wedding budget is higher now than it would have been a year ago?

I hope so.  But I believe that no matter what the economy holds – don’t spend your money without being a smart consumer.  Look for value and quality and get the most for your money.  If you don’t, spending less may cost you more.

I’m eager to hear from Brides and Grooms planning Seattle Weddings for 2011 and 2012.  What are the budget items you feel are necessary spending?  Which items do you consider secondary?  And…which budget items are on your “wish list” because you feel that spending your budget on them would be a luxury?

Each couple is definitely unique and an item that one would feel is necessary another would see as luxury.  For me – having a conch blower at my Hawaiian wedding was necessary but a cake was not at all.  One bride I worked with felt more strongly about her cake than any other part of her wedding.
